 SAFETY COORDINATOR – Posted February 12, 2020

South Central Transit Authority (SCTA) is seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator who will be hands on in helping implement programs and procedures in compliance with State and Federal regulations, as well as Authority policies for both Lancaster and Berks counties.

This position is responsible for processing, tracking and reporting all WC and P&L claims for all locations.  This includes managing the Drug & Alcohol Program for all employees of BARTA (Berks County), Red Rose Transit Authority (Lancaster County) and SCTA (Berks & Lancaster counties).

Responsible for assisting with the completion of operator on-board evaluation reviews.  The position also serves as a backup dispatcher for RRTA when needed, and reports to the Manager of Safety and Training.

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicant should possess a High School Degree with postgraduate training in transportation operations or and safety with three to five years of progressively responsible experience in transportation or relater fields.
  • Must be available during hours of operations for possible post-accident drug test and/or random drug testing.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-past environment.
  • Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook), and ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public.
  • Must possess & maintain or have the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire, a valid PA CDL with air brake and passenger endorsements.
  • Applicant will be subject to pre-employment drug test/physical and background checks after receiving a conditional offer of employment.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS – Posted January 30, 2020

South Central Transit Authority (SCTA) is seeking a Director of Operations for its Lancaster operations, Red Rose Transit Authority (RRTA).  This position will work closely with the Executive Director, and other appropriate department heads to manage the public transportation needs of a 43 bus fleet operation and approx. 74 union operators.

Responsibilities include managing, planning, and supervising the daily transportation activities of the RRTA system which operates seven days a week.

The position requires proven skills in management, administration, and transit operations, including: knowledge of the principles and practices governing the operation of a public transit system;  demonstrated ability to manage, plan and supervise the work of others; demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good employee and public relations; and verbal and written communication skills.

Qualified candidates will possess two years of completed undergraduate college course work and four years of work experience in a transportation service related industry.  May substitute an equivalent combination of training and experience working within the transit industry for the completed college course work.
