PART-TIME DISPATCHER

South Central Transit Authority (SCTA) is seeking two Part-Time Dispatchers for its Reading location (Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority – BARTA). This position is responsible for providing assistance and supervision to bus operators and passengers in support of BARTA’s daily transit operations. The ideal candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced transit environment.

This position averages approximately 15–20 hours per week, with additional hours available as needed for coverage and fill-in assignments.

Position Schedule:

Dispatcher #1
Every Saturday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Every other Sunday: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM (alternating with Dispatcher #2)
Every other Monday: 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM (alternating with Dispatcher #2)

Dispatcher #2
Every Saturday: 5:30 PM – 12:30 AM
Every other Sunday: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM (alternating with Dispatcher #1)
Every other Monday: 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM (alternating with Dispatcher #1)

Qualified applicants must possess excellent communication and customer service skills. Working knowledge of Berks County is preferred. Computer proficiency is required. Two-way radio communication experience is a plus. Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are preferred, but not required.
