DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE
South Central Transit Authority (SCTA) is seeking a Director of Maintenance for its Lancaster, PA operations. This position will be responsible for coordinating the daily activities of a bus maintenance facility in order to provide efficient, effective, safe, and reliable service for fixed route bus service operated by the Red Rose Transit Authority under contract to SCTA. This position is responsible for planning, supervising and coordinating the daily staff activities of RRTA’s maintenance employees for the 45-bus fleet. The position also implements and manages the vehicle maintenance program including, supervision of labor, preventive maintenance, parts inventory, and performance measures.
Requirements of the position:
– Strong employee management skills, including experience in a union environment
– 5+ years of hands-on mechanical supervisory experience
– Experience working with and in public transit preferred
– Ability to prioritize Authority objectives along with PMI’s and breakdowns
– Excellent organizational, leadership and team-building skills
– Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
– Computer proficiency a must

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE
South Central Transit Authority (SCTA) is seeking a caring, team-oriented individual who is also motivated and self-starting for the current opening of Full-Time Customer Service Representative. This position is for its Shared Ride Division located in Lancaster, PA.
If you enjoy talking to people and want to go home every day knowing you made a difference in someone’s life, then this is the position for you.
SCTA is seeking a qualified candidate that is able to deal effectively with the public both in person and on the telephone in a fast-paced environment. The position requires excellent computer, telephone, and clerical skills. Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) communication skills are preferred, but not required.
This position will work a total of 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. UTILITY WORKER
South Central Transit Authority (SCTA) is seeking applicants for the full-time “Garage” Utility Worker position at its Reading location (Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority – BARTA). Hours are Monday through Friday (4:00 PM – 12:00 AM).
Responsible for probing, emptying the fare box, fueling, checking fluids, and washing, moving, and parking Authority vehicles. Also responsible for simple miscellaneous repairs, such as adjusting mirrors, topping off fluids, etc. Responsible for assisting mechanics with moving, repairing or testing and cleaning of parts for automotive equipment. Cleaning shop and wash work area as needed. Utility workers are not required to have tools.
Employee must have a Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement. Employee must be able to perform long periods of walking. Employee must be able to lift a maximum of 40lbs. Employee must be able to work independently and be able to resolve problems as they arise. Employee must be able to communicate well with other departments including drivers, mechanics, cleaners, and dispatchers.
Must be able to pass D.O.T. pre-employment physical and D.O.T. drug and alcohol testing. BARTA offers a competitive starting rate, excellent benefits and pension.

PART-TIME DISPATCHER
South Central Transit Authority (SCTA) is seeking two part-time Dispatchers for its Reading office (Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority – BARTA).
SCTA is looking for reliable, customer-focused individuals to provide assistance and supervision to bus operators and passengers in support of BARTA’s daily transit operations. This position requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced transit environment.
Position Schedule:
Dispatcher #1:
· Every Saturday: 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM
· Every other Sunday: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM (alternating with Dispatcher #2)
· Every other Monday: 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM (alternating with Dispatcher #2)
Dispatcher #2:
· Every Saturday: 5:30 PM – 12:30 AM
· Every other Sunday: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM (alternating with Dispatcher #1)
· Every other Monday: 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM (alternating with Dispatcher #1)
Approximately 15–20 hours per week, with additional hours available as needed for coverage and fill-in assignments.
Qualifications:
· Excellent communication and customer service skills required
· Working knowledge of Berks County preferred
· Computer proficiency required
· Two-way radio communication experience a plus
· Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, but not required
