Full-Time Transit Center Associate
The South Central Transit Authority is seeking a customer service oriented individual who is motivated, and a self-starting for the position of Full-Time Transit Center Associate for its Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority, BTC (7th & Cherry St) location. The qualified candidate must be able to deal effectively with the public both in person and on the telephone in a professional manner. The position requires excellent computer skills, telephone etiquette, and bi-lingual communication skills are required (Spanish/English). The position will work a total of 40 hours a week (8:45am-5:45pm Monday – Friday). SCTA offers competitive salary and excellent benefit package.

Operations Supervisor
South Central Transit Authority is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor for its Lancaster location, Red Rose Transit Authority (RRTA). Position requires 3-5 yrs exp. in a supervisory role, union shop exp. helpful but not required, positive attitude and a strong work ethic required. Exp. with Microsoft Office, tracking productivity, and customer service is also required.
Typical duties include on-road supervision of Transit Operators; Operator performance reviews; assists with customer service; and writes and compiles reports related to department operations: position hours are Tues – Sat 8am to 4:30pm but may vary as this position serves as backup for fixed-route dispatchers, must be flexible with nights and weekends as needed.
Applicant should possess organizational, written and verbal communication skills. CDL with P endorsement and air brake restriction lifted required within 9 mos. of hire (training provided).

Director of Operations
South Central Transit Authority (SCTA) is seeking a Director of Operations for its Reading facility, Berks Area Regional Transportation Authority (BARTA). This position will work closely with the Executive Director, and other appropriate department heads to manage the public transportation needs of a 50 bus fleet operation that service 19 public bus routes. This position supervises approx. 87 union vehicle operators, and 7 non-union support staff.
Responsibilities include managing, planning, and supervising the daily transportation activities of the BARTA system which operates seven days a week. The position is also responsible for overseeing the BARTA training program and assists the Chief Safety Officer in updating and monitoring the SCTA Safety Plan and program.
The position requires proven skills in management, administration, and transit operations, including: knowledge of the principles and practices governing the operation of a public transit system; demonstrated ability to manage, plan and supervise the work of others; demonstrated ability to establish and maintain good employee and public relations; and verbal and written communication skills.
SCTA is seeking a strong and dynamic leader with in-depth knowledge of bus transportation and experience with unions. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator who can establish relationships of trust between internal and external stakeholders, strong leadership skills; emotional intelligence; a solid ethical foundation, a strong contributor to a culture of team and respect and a vision for the future. Qualified candidates will possess two years of completed undergraduate college course work and four years of work experience in a transportation service related industry. May substitute an equivalent combination of training and experience working within the transit industry for the completed college course work.

Full-Time Dispatcher
South Central Transit Authority (SCTA) is seeking a full-time dispatcher to fill an opening for 3rd shift (4pm – midnight) at the Lancaster office (Red Rose Transit Authority: RRTA). SCTA is seeking a reliable full-time dispatcher to provide daily dispatching and schedule of its fleet of passenger vehicles and bus drivers in support of RRTA’s daily transit operations. The candidate should possess the following: 1- Assign and monitor driver assignments; 2- Excellent customer service skills; 3- Effective oral and written communication skills; 4- Have knowledge of Lancaster County area; 5- Problem solving and strong attention to detail; 6- Computer skills a must and two-way radio communications experience a plus; 7- Ability to multitask; 8- Bilingual (Spanish and English) is helpful. Exp. in a union environment is helpful.
